Jovana Komnenić takes her move in her work from minimal suggestions: it suffices to see the series of small drawings, realized, from 2001 on, in mixed media, where subjects like Vulcano sul Mare, Fabbrica-castello, Carbonaia, are sketched in a few essential lines. Moving from these suggestions Jovana lets her mental associations play intuitively, while aiming at the elaboration of works characterized by a certain complexity, like the work presently on show: Contratto d’alloggio 1.1, a title hinting at the human difficulty that man has in finding a proper place of his own in the world. The geo-poltical questions refer to apparently more elementary matters concerning the terrestrial habitat, i.e. an environment including other species too, with reference to evolutionary topics as well, hinted at by dint of three drawings: the head, the scull and the brain…
